Gameplay

- Start Adventure
Failsafe (Cheery): Captain. Vex in your patrol area have upgraded their barrier technology to be impenetrable using a new, unidentified energy source. Nearby constructs should have the data we need to locate a sample of this technology
Ghost: Unbreakable shields sounds bad. Let's take 'em apart!
- Collect Data Cores from Vex
- Data cores collected
- [0-8] of 8
- Collect data cores from Vex constructs so Failsafe can find a sample of the new shield technology
- Data cores collected
- The player engages the Vex in the area and loots their "Vex Energy Cores"

Ghost: I skimmed the cores. There's a weird energy spike nearby that might be what we're looking for.
Failsafe (Cheery): I would be happy to analyze any samples you obtain. (Depressed): I need a life. Someone get me off this rock.
- Collect the Energy Spike
- Take the energy spike and begin your investigation of the new Vex shields
- The player locates the energy spike near the crashed ship, and is ambushed by an "Empowered Minotaur" employing the new invincible shields as they approach.
Ghost: We've got the spike, but there's a Minotaur here using those fancy shields.
Failsafe (Cheery): The captain always finds a way!
- Destroy the Empowered Minotaur
- Now that you are attuned to its energy, destroy the Empowered Minotaur
- When the player enters the energy spike they receive a buff 15 second long buff, "Disruptor Charge", which allows the player to destroy the Empowered Minotaur's shield, and thus to kill it. The player kills the minotaur
Failsafe (Cheery): I detect additional energy spikes nearby. We should scan them for analysis. Perhaps we can discover how they are producing it. (Depressed): And then blow'em up.
- Go to the Tangle
- Failsafe has found additional energy samples nearby
- The Tangle
Failsafe (Cheery): Captain. Additional energy pools overhead.
- Collect Energy
- Energy Collected
- [0-100]%
- Collect energy so Failsafe can analyze it
- Energy Collected
- The energy spikes are above the ground, coming out of the branches of the giant tree in the middle of the Tangle. The player gets up into the tree and collects the energy by walking through it. Several Ghost Scans are available at this higher level:
- Ghost: "The readings off of this construct... if I'm reading this right, it's been all across the galaxy. And I thought we were well travelled." - NE-TAN-3
- (D1 Veteran Account): Ghost: "If I'm reading this right there are... other Gardens. Like, Black Garden Gardens. I couldn't tell if they were being built, or were already destroyed. What does it mean?" - NE-TAN-5.1
- (Non-Veteran Account): Ghost: All the foliage around this access point is somehow augmenting its firewall. I thought the trees were mostly organic, but… just add this to the pile of things we don’t understand about the Vex. - NE-TAN-5.2

Failsafe (Cheery): This is superb data. I have located one final set of fonts for you to collect.
Ghost: Failsafe, this is turning into kind of a long walk.
Failsafe (Depressed): Hey! At least you can walk. I live in a dilapidated boat.
- Collect a Large Energy Font
- Collect energy from one last set of fonts to discover where the Vex are creating their new shields
- The player moves to the next energy font, encountering another Empowered Minotaur.
- Destroy the Minotaur
- Use the energy from a large font to kill the Empowered Minotaur
- The player uses the energy's buff effect to destroy the Minotaur's shield and kill it
Failsafe (Cheery): I've traced the samples to one source and have pushed its coordinates to your tracker. I do not believe the Vex will want to give up their "fancy shields." (Depressed): You're gonna have to make them.
- Follow Failsafe's Coordinates
- Find the source of the Vex barriers
- The player heads towards the source
- Well of Echoes
- The player enters the Well of Echoes, descending into a large, multi-levelled circular arena type enclosure. At the center is a large spherical object. As the player approaches this sphere a barrier activates to protect it, and Vex forces arrive.
- Lower the Shield
- Use Arc charges from Vex Minotaurs to overload the shield protecting the Vex device
- The player fights the first wave of Vex and uses energy spikes to gain the Disruptor Charge buff to destroy an Empowered Minotaur. Upon defeat, the Minotaur drops an "Arc Charge"
- Pick up Arc Charge
- Overload Shield Generator
- The player inserts the charge into a port connected to the device, causing the shield to be overloaded, exposing the device and allowing it to be damaged
- Shield deactivated
- Destroy the Vex Device
- Device Integrity
- [0-100]%
- Destroy the Vex device to prevent them from creating more barriers
- Device Integrity
- 33%
- The device's impenetrable shields recover, blocking the player from further damaging it and triggering the arrival of more Vex and another Empowered Minotaur
- Lower the Shield
- Use Arc charges from Vex Minotaurs to overload the shield protecting the Vex device
- Once again the player gains the buff, kills the Minotaur, picks up the Arc Charge, and uses it to overload the device.
- Pick up Arc Charge
- Overload Shield Generator
- Shield Deactivated
- The Vex shield generating device is exposed again and the player proceeds to damage it a second time.
- Destroy the Vex Device
- Device Integrity
- [0-100]%
- Destroy the Vex device to prevent them from creating more barriers
- Device Integrity
- 66%
- With another third of its health lost the shield recovers, blocks the player's attacks and forces them to repeat the process for a third time.
- Lower the Shield
- Use Arc charges from Vex Minotaurs to overload the shield protecting the Vex device
- The player gains the buff, kills the Minotaur, picks up the Arc Charge, and uses it to overload the device.
- Pick up Arc Charge
- Overload Shield Generator
- Shield Deactivated
- The Vex shield generating device is exposed again and the player proceeds to damage it a third time.
- Destroy the Vex Device
- Device Integrity
- [0-100]%
- Destroy the Vex device to prevent them from creating more barriers
- Device Integrity
- 100%
- The device is irreparably damaged and explodes.
Ghost: Failsafe, we can report those shields won't be a problem anymore. Nice catch.
Failsafe (Cheery): The Vex Collective is reporting the same thing. Hopefully they do not posses the resources to do this twice.
{End Gameplay}
{End Mission}
Trivia
- The energy spikes coming out of the trees in the Tangle may be located in the trees because they trees are not entirely organic, as described by NE-TAN-5.2:
- Ghost: All the foliage around this access point is somehow augmenting its firewall. I thought the trees were mostly organic, but… just add this to the pile of things we don’t understand about the Vex.
- It is possible the trees are acting as some sort of conduit allowing the energy to pass through them, and erupt into the "fonts" seen during the mission.
- The D1 Veteran Scan dialogue of the same node implies that the foliage is similar in nature to the Black Garden’s, perhaps being transplanted there by the Vex.
