Ana would come to Rasputin's defense once again when Mara Sov would suggest that a refrain be placed on restoring Rasputin's capabilities after piecing together Xivu Arath's true strategy: by allowing the Guardians to restore the Warmind's control over the Warsat Network and letting him retaliate against her Wrathborn, the destruction would not only feed her worm but also fuel a spell to summon her armies over Earth, overwhelming humanity as she did with the Cabal on [[Torobatl]]. At a Vanguard Coalition meeting, Ana defended Rasputin stating that he was necessary in humanity's defense against the Witness's return and that he was more than a weapon. Though Mara countered that Rasputin had acted without council or consensus before, Ana made a counter of her own in that Mara had done the same. Ana stated that Rasputin had made mistakes but had learned and grown from them, thus making him an ally and not a weapon. Convinced but knowing they can't let Xivu Arath's plan succeed, Mara instead suggests they compromise: they restore Rasputin fully as Ana wants, but he would not use the full power of the Warsat Network against the Wrathborn, thus creating a stalemate with Xivu Arath and denying the War God the requirements she needs for her spell. Mithrax, Empress Caiatl and Zavala all agree to the plan. Not long after the meeting however, Ana would begin to have second thoughts if bringing Rasputin online was the right thing to do but more so if teaching Rasputin independent thought and simulating human conscience. Wondering the same thing after hearing from Elsie regarding the time loop she is a part of, Ana thinks she may have brought Rasputin back to suffer the Collapse all over again. These thoughts she confided in the Guardian but abruptly ends the conversation before she falls into despair any further. She would be brought back from the brink by Rasputin himself who stated that it is because of her that he has a life to live and that by teaching him the things that made him more human and not treating him like a weapon. Ana is left touched and on the verge of tears as she thanks Rasputin. | |||
