The Vessel of Oryx is a Hive Knight that appears as a unique enemy in the King's Fall Raid.[1].
Gameplay
The Vessel of Oryx appears from a Tombship that spawns after the second piece of the brand is obtained. The Vessel must be killed to acquire the "Aura of Immortality" buff during the final confrontation with Oryx, the Taken King at Threshold. To acquire this you must steal it from the Vessel, however, the Vessel is immune to damage until the team manages to complete the Brand Claimer. Once it is obtained, the runner will get to the Vessel, and steal its Aura. Then he can be killed.
If the Vessel of Oryx is left alive at any point of the raid, it will begin to act like a Light-Eater Knight by running to a random corner of the map, usually one where a bomb dropped from a Light-Eater Ogre is, and consume it. This behavior change makes the Vessel's destruction among the most important tasks during the encounter.
The Vessel of Oryx reappears in Destiny 2 with the reprisal of the King's Fall raid. He appears as an Elite enemy, but is otherwise unchanged in behavior.[2]
Trivia
- The Vessel of Oryx and the Light-Eater Knights share a model, with the only difference being that the Vessel of Oryx uses a Boomer while the Light-Eater Knights use Cleavers.
- The Vessel of Oryx's head looks similar to Oryx's head, being mostly flat with two straight horns emerging from its sides.
- The Vessel of Oryx and Light-Eater Knights are the only Hive to have pink armor.
- The health bar of the Vessel of Oryx in Destiny 2 is unique (or bugged), being the size of a Minor's but still colored orange.
