House of Rain | |
---|---|
- "House Rain lost in Whirlwind. No survivors, but I keep their prophecies."
- — Variks, the Loyal[1]
The House of Rain was a Fallen House presumably destroyed in the cataclysmic Whirlwind event, but was soon revealed that it had survived and reached Sol, only to be extinguished by the Vex on Mercury. The house also massacred a human settlement on Mercury and came into conflict with the Vex, the Titan Saint-14, and The Guardian, who had traveled back in time.
History
Its members prophesied that a Fallen warrior, whose enemies would "flee or fall", would one day rise to "heal the Houses and make them whole".[2] The House was destroyed by the Whirlwind that ruined the Fallen civilization.[3]
During the Dark Age, they encountered a human settlement protected by Saint-14 on Mercury, and destroyed the settlement and killed the survivors, but were unable to kill Saint-14 due to The Guardian's actions.
Legacy
Though the House of Rain may have been destroyed in the Whirlwind, their purple banners were adopted by the newly formed House of Dusk.
Unique Forces
Prophecy
- "Before him, foes will flee or fall. But he will heal the houses, make them whole."[4]
- "The Great Machine will marvel, moved by might, and come to crown him Kell of Kells."[5]
- "What Whirlwind whisked away will be rewrought, and every Kell and Ketch will kneel to the Kell of Kells."[6]
- "In a world without Kells, Dreg strength will breed nothing but chaos."
Trivia
- It is mentioned in the third Season of Dawn Narrative Preview, the House of Rain's colors and sigil is the same as the House of Dusk's, meaning that the Dusk's colors were inspired by the House of Rain.[7]
- Variks claimed that the House was lost in the Whirlwind, but they were around in the Dark Age. This means that either: Variks lied about it’s destruction, or they faked their deaths.
- Due to the House of Rain being present on Dark Age Mercury, it's possible that the Fallen simulations, seen in the Infinite Forest, may have been former members of the House of Rain, before being captured, and simulated by the Vex.
List of appearances
- Destiny: House of Wolves (First mentioned)
