Coinciding with the events of [[The Final Shape]], members of the Brood became to break away from Shin'ra's command, believing that the goal of the Witness's [[Final Shape]] goes against that of the Hive's. They were eventually swayed by the words of the [[UserWiki:TheTrueSorrowMaker|Emperor]] of the Abhorrent Brood, who took this change as recompense for the loss of tribute during the Lucent War. The true followers of Shin'ra took this as an act of war and began a schism within the Brood as vies for leadership.

Instead of subjugating the Weavers into the Abhorrent Brood, the Emperor instead sought to induct his own brood into the members of the Weavers as a means to study and become further involved with Corruption as a means to master its eldritch power.
