The Echo of Influence is an artifact that was released from within the Traveler following the destruction of the Witness. Like the other Echoes, it is believed to be a memory or psychic imprint of a species that was conquered and destroyed by the Witness and its Black Fleet, preserved in the Darkness and made manifest through the Light. In the case of the Echo of Influence, it was forged from the memory of a member of the Quassin species who got caught in the Hive-Ecumene war.
It was discovered by Xal Tinar who found it buried in the disembodied arm of Tivon aboard a derelict Pyramid ship and used by him, Ir Vothec and Troksrii during the Hunt for the Will. Xal Tinar's piece would eventually be contained in a secure Vanguard site by the Hidden following Tivon's defeat at the the Guardian.
Description[edit]
The Echo takes the form of a tongue, which appears to be a mix between a deepsea fish and a human, that glows pink with infused Prismatic energy.
It grants the user the ability to alter the mind of an individual, such as changing memories or making them waveringly loyal to the wielder. It would be used by Tivon and his followers to gather a large following, utilising the Echo's power to bring the leaderless forces of the Witness under their control and compelling others into either servitude or conversion. Even paracausal individuals like Ascendant Hive and Guardians are not immune to it, though they are able to somewhat fight it and even resist it if they are stronger than the owner's power.
Following their recruitment, both Ir Vothec and Troksrii would be given portions of the Echo for them to use. The former would wear her piece as a necklace while the latter chained his piece to his helmet.
