Game:

Destiny: Rise of Iron

Quest giver:

Shiro-4

Objective:

Forge a weapon from a recovered SIVA engine.

Reward(s):

Outbreak Prime

This is not a story. This is discovery.

Channeling the Corruption is an Exotic Quest from Rise of Iron involving the Wrath of the Machine Raid. Completing the quest will award the Exotic Pulse Rifle, Outbreak Prime.

Acquisition[edit]

To acquire the exotic quest, players must search out for monitors needed to access the final chest behind the laser grid.

  • Climb into the air vent in the front-left safe room in the Splicer's Den area where Vosik, the Archpriest is fought. A player can make their way up between the ceiling fan blades to find a hidden room containing the first monitor. The blades of the fan will be removed after defeating Vosik to allow access.
  • Turn right halfway through the jumping sequence between the Splicer's Den and the Apex. Play must climb the pipes and scaffolding in the room and locate a hidden chest above. In this room, the monitor will be much higher up.
  • Jump off the back off the Siege Engine after completing the encounter and wait for it to fall. At the section where the ramp begins to slope downward, Players can turn and look back on the right side of the highway to locate a plate attached to the side of the highway that can be shot. While being shot, the door will continually say "immune." Continue shooting until the plate explodes off. Enter the side of the side walling to locate the hidden room containing the monitor.
Server Farm Puzzle Guide
  • The fourth monitor can be solving a platform-based puzzle inside the "maze" portion of the Server Farm, which are divided into four quadrants: 00, 01, 02 and 03. To solve the puzzle, one player each should stand at each quadrant. Meanwhile two remaining guardians should wait in the main room with one by each of the two non-interactive monitors, while four others press on to the canister room.
  • Quadrant 00 - column 2:00, row two
  • Quadrant 01 - column 1:01, row two
  • Quadrant 02 - column 4:02, row zero
  • Quadrant 03 - column 3:03, row five

Once four Guardians are in position as indicated for a few seconds, the two non-interactive monitors will fire into life. At this stage, the four Guardians in the canister room should return to the walkways above their quadrants.

One of the two Guardians in the main room (it doesn't matter who) can then activate the monitors, which will begin spitting out coordinates. The coordinates are provided in binary in two parts: the left monitor indicating the column number and the right monitor the row number. Coordinates are provided for each quadrant in ascending numerical order. The binary codes for the puzzle are numbered 1-5:

  • 1- 0000
  • 2- 0001
  • 3- 0011
  • 4- 0100
  • 5- 0101

At callout, the player assigned to their respective quadrant will jump to the canister indicated at the coordinates. When done correctly an audible sound will indicate it, and process will repeat for the next quadrant until all four are done. Once the puzzle is completed, the large SIVA generator at the center of the canister room will open; revealing the fourth monitor inside.

  • The fifth and final monitor is right by the laser grid after killing Aksis, Archon Prime, which can be found at a secret passageway below on the back left of the arena not far from the platform players first dropped onto at the start. Players who have fulfilled all the prior steps can deactivate the laser grid and claim the spoils of an inactive SIVA engine, starting the first step of the quest.

Steps[edit]

Step 1: An Engine Less Ordinary[edit]

Visit Shiro-4. He may be interested in the device you found.

  • Visit Shiro-4

"This is…? I don't know what this is."
Ghost

Transcript[edit]

"What have you got there, Guardian?

We have to be careful with SIVA, but if we're too careful, we won't get any closer to understanding it."
"
— Shiro-4
  • Shiro-4: {TO BE ADDED}

Step 2: Be the Battery[edit]

Complete objectives with a Fireteam comprising a Hunter, Titan, and Warlock.

"This thing needs energy, but not just any charge. I think we can use mismatched patterns of Light to kickstart it.

Want to give it a shot? Worst-case scenario? It blows up in our faces.
"
— Shiro-4

Step 3: That Light May Bind[edit]

Synchronize the SIVA Engine's energy flow.

  • Engine Synchronized

"The Light from your Fireteam worked to power the engine.

Now we just need to sync the patterns to an energy flow the device can map.
"
— Ghost

Notes[edit]

A Hunter, Titan, and Warlock in the same fireteam must inspect their SIVA Engine in their inventory and enter a code. The Influx Capacitor node has the engine's starting value, and the Binding Circuit node has the required final value. The nodes in the middle are labeled as "capacitors," which add values, and "resistors," which subtract values. If the node has "dual" in its name, the value is actually double what's displayed; if the node has "half" in its name, its value is actually half what's displayed. Each Guardian must use the Capacitor and Resistor nodes to add and subtract values from their Influx Capacitor node to eventually come to the value to the Binding Circuit node. Once the correct nodes are selected, the Binding Circuit node may be selected to complete the puzzle.

The solutions are as follows:

  • Hunters: 23223
  • Titans: 32323
  • Warlocks: 31313

Step 4: A Closer Look[edit]

Return to Shiro-4 with the SIVA Engine.

  • Visit Shiro-4

"That did... something. The engine is charged, but its systems have shifted to keep its core functions locked. Almost as if the device doesn't want to be powered up."
— Ghost

Transcript[edit]

"How's our engine looking? If it can hold a charge, it can be powered up. We just need to keep tinkering."
— Shiro-4
  • Shiro-4: Still wrapping my head around SIVA. But I think we can use this thing to learn more, while experimenting with its potential.

Step 5: Parts of a Whole[edit]

Attack Fallen in the Plaguelands. Gather the SIVA tech Shiro-4 needs.

"This won't sound like a good idea, but I think I can weaponize this engine.

We just need to get a little further under its hood, and… I'm going to need a few things.
"
— Shiro-4

Step 6: Equalization Equation[edit]

Equalize the SIVA Engine's energy flow across patterns.

  • Energy Patterns Equalized

"The engine's systems are multilayered and much more complex than we thought.
If I'm reading this correctly, it's powered by like patterns across multiple intakes.
"
— Ghost

Notes[edit]

The solutions are as follows:

  • Hunter: 41233 or 24414
  • Titan: 42123 or 24344
  • Warlock: 23444 or 13334

Step 7: Running the Math[edit]

Return to Shiro-4 with the SIVA Engine.

  • Visit Shiro-4

"We've equalized a section of the engine's systems, but its having trouble holding the charge. Meaning it's powered, but very unstable. I hope we know what we're doing."
— Ghost

Transcript[edit]

"You're back. Good. You find what we need?

'Cause I got plans. And I'm running the math, and the math says we're going to need some serious tech to pull this off.
"
— Shiro-4
  • Shiro-4: {TO BE ADDED}

Step 8: Research and Destroy[edit]

Defeat the Devil Splicers' leaders in the "Wrath of the Machine" Raid.

  • SIVA Control Grids Collected: 3

"Any chance we have at stablizing this Engine and configuring its core systems to function as intended depends on how well you take bad news..."
— Shiro-4

Step 9: An Unknowable Science[edit]

Equalize the SIVA Engine's energy flow across randomized patterns.

  • Energy Patterns Equalized

"I hope the risk was worth it.

These control grids will help stabilize the engine, but you'll need to equalize this final energy pattern before Shiro has any hope of turning it into something we can use.

And, for the record, it still might blow up in our faces.
"
— Ghost

Notes[edit]

Fill in the table you receive from the SIVA engine, the start number is different per class, the ending number is 730. This puzzle does not have a set solution, but an online calculator exists here.

Step 10: Outbreak Prime[edit]

Return to Shiro-4 with the Infection Engine.

  • Visit Shiro-4

"You ready for this?"
— Shiro-4

Transcript[edit]

"I think you'll be impressed with what we've cooked up. Just be careful when you're using it, because it's aggressive, maybe even angry."
— Shiro-4
  • Shiro-4: All right, Guardian. This is my first attempt at mixing SIVA with my own brand of gunsmithing. You probably won't die, but something will.
