| Over a year after [[The Guardian|the Guardian]] encounters and spares [[Mithrax, the Forsaken]] during the world quest [[Chances and Choices]], a Fallen Transponder can be found in a locked room in the [[Tidal Anchor]] on [[Titan (moon)|Titan]]. This device was left behind by Mithrax for the Guardian to discover and solve by finding six data nodes throughout several [[Lost Sector|Lost Sectors]] in the [[European Dead Zone]] and [[Nessus]]. After retrieving all six data nodes, the Guardian rendezvous with Mithrax in the basement of an old building on [[The Farm]] to stop [[Fallen]] [[House of Devils]] loyalists from stealing preserved SIVA tech from a Cryptarch Vault deep inside the [[Tower|Old Tower]] in [[The Last City]]. Upon completion of this mission, [[Zero Hour]], Outbreak Perfected is acquired.

| Outbreak Perfected is the third [[Exotic]] [[Pulse Rifle]] introduced into ''[[Destiny 2]]'', the other two being [[Vigilance Wing]] and [[Graviton Lance]]. Much like its previous incarnation, it has the potential to be a highly versatile multipurpose weapon in the hands of a player with good aim. In PVE, the weapon can clear groups of enemies with relative ease, and can deal considerable damage to boss enemies once enough nanites attach to them, especially in a full fireteam of Outbreak Perfected users.

| In PVP, the gun, as of The Witch Queen, falls into a pulse rifle archetype that finds it hard to compete with the likes of other pulses, legendary or exotic.
