*Yul is spelled Yu'''u'''l in some item names.
*Yul states himself to "Behold my majesty. Behold my crushing might, my staggering size, my scales that shine with an oppressive gleam. Behold my wings, which create winds that sweep through the stars." in contrast Xol and Akka who have been said to appear as actual worms. Whether this implies that the Worm Gods can shapeshift, similar to the [[Ahamkara|Ahamkaras]], or that Yul is simply unique with his wings or the strongest of the Worm Gods is unknown.
*Yul describes himself as having wings, while none of the other Worm Gods seen thus far have had wings. The significance of this is unknown, but may be related to Yul's implied status as the most powerful of the Worm Gods.

Yul, the Honest Worm is one of the Worm Gods, ancient beings second only to the Deep itself in the hierarchy of the Hive pantheon.

Biography[edit]

"Yul yearns for nurture. It does so through honesty."
Xita, the Nurturing Worm [1]

The Ancient Past[edit]

As with the other Worm Gods, Yul's origins are unknown. At some point, he and the other Worm Gods - Eir, Ur, Xol, Akka, and their mother Xita - were trapped deep within the gas giant planet Fundament.

When the progenitors of the Hive - three sisters named Aurash, Xi Ro, and Sathona - delved into the core of Fundament and encountered the Worm Gods, Yul addressed them and offered a bargain: allow their bodies to be parasitized by the Worm Gods' larvae in exchange for immortality and paracausal abilities. The sisters accepted, and began their transformation into the god-kings of the nascent Hive.[2]

Sometime after the slaying of Akka, the Worm of Secrets by Oryx, the Taken King, Yul began planning to consume and absorb the power of Xol, Will of the Thousands, causing Xol to flee alongside Oryx's abandoned son Nokris.[3]

Trivia[edit]

  • Yul is spelled Yuul in some item names.
  • Yul describes himself as having wings, while none of the other Worm Gods seen thus far have had wings. The significance of this is unknown, but may be related to Yul's implied status as the most powerful of the Worm Gods.
