- "Slipping out of stealth only to offload a crew of Fallen, the Skiff is rarely seen. On the other hand, its rumbling, booming arrival is difficult to miss - as are the weapons it uses to support its troop deployments."
- — Grimoire description
The Skiff is a troop carrier utilized by the Fallen.[2]
Gameplay[edit]
Launched from much larger vessels such as Ketches, the Skiff is capable of rapidly deploying infantry and armor, such as the Fallen Walker, into combat zones. They do, however, have armament in the form of twin plasma cannons (which deal Arc damage) and bouncing mines, and as such, are used as temporary air support while offloading troops and vehicles.[3] The cannons fire powerful explosive rounds that deal heavy splash damage and the mines can block off certain areas. However, it is possible to shoot off the cannons with enough fire, thus limiting the Skiff's firepower.
Skiffs are commonly seen sending reinforcements to Fallen-controlled territories, but will also deploy in force into combat zones, such as during Public Events like mining Glimmer or retrieving a Warsat.
The House of Dusk made heavy use of Skiffs during the Red War. Followed by long after, the House of Spider occasionally, Kell's Scourge, and the House of Salvation.
Though the Scorn prefer to employ more esoteric methods of transportation, they have been seen using Skiffs to deploy Scorn Walkers.
