Tivon is a former Disciple of the Witness who was killed when his overly fanatical view of the Final Shape led him to become a threat to the Witness and its plans. His pieces would be contained aboard various Pyramid ships. In the wake of the Witness' defeat, Tivon's spirit would amass a following of Dread, Taken, Scorn and Shadow Legion Cabal to gather his pieces, rebuild his body and enact his version of the Final Shape.

BiographyEdit

"You grew in deep oceans of a frozen world untethered by any star. You should not exist, and the Gardener knew this. It left this here and fled in fear… of you."

Originally part of a species of humanoid aquatic creatures that lived in the deep seas of a rogue planet known as the Quassin, Tivon grew up listening to tales from his Shoal's elders of how they became what they were and, a particular favourite of Tivon, how the God Pearl had blessed their people with a gift - the Breaker Mast. He dreamed of seeing the God Pearl himself but had mostly given up hope as it had left them long before he had been born.

One night, Tivon dreamt of seeing the God Pearl in the barren sky, but the dream changed as it quickly left their world. He then saw the Breaker Mast and a mysterious blackened figure that beckoned him to find it. Convinced, Tivon made a pilgrimage to the surface and would find the figure standing by the relic. Despite its horrifying look, it spoke to the young Quassin gently. After introducing each other and explaining what the Mast was, the Witness revealed something to Tivon.

The God Pearl, or the Gardener as the Witness called it, had blessed many other races before the Quassin. Many of them went against how the universe should be and, by intervening and encouraging them, the Gardener brought unnecessary suffering, noting one such species that survived in the orbit of a black hole by a gifted Mast from the Gardener that led to their destruction. It believed that the Quassin were much the same as they had evolved in a way that made them an anomaly, something that shouldn't exist. It even implied the Gardener knew this and ran after leaving its relic instead of remaining because it feared the Quassin.

With Tivon's worldview broken, the Witness offered Tivon to come with it. Together, they would spare his people from the unnecessary suffering the universe above them would bring. Ultimately, Tivon accepted.

From aboard a Pyramid ship, Tivon watched as the Witness began to distort the rogue planet using the ship's gravitational weaponary. As the ice layer began to crack and shatter, Tivon looked away, imagining what his people were going through; living in blissful ignorance, even before the moment their world came to an end. However, the Witness assured him that what it was doing was an act of mercy.

Disciple of the WitnessEdit

After being anointed as a Disciple of the Witness by Rhulk and gifted a Glave dubbed Tivon’s Fang, Tivon would go on to conquer and destroy many races in the name of the Witness. One such, a race of sun-worshipping insectoid species that had previously been blessed by the Gardener, known as the Karela would be wiped out after Tivon used the Taken to blight their star and renderer them defenseless. It was during this conflict that Tivon began to grow increasingly fascinated with the Taken and would frequently use them in battle. He saw them as what the Final Shape was to be; every being in the whole universe remade and perfected in Darkness. However, Tivon would begin to view those that only wielded the Darkness as inferior, wether it was a civilisation using the Darkness peacefully or even his allies and fellow Disciple, which only grew worse after learning the origins of the Witness.

In time, the Witness would see Tivon's dedication to his idea of the Final Shape could led him to actions that could undermine its mission, particularly after Tivon attempted to forcibly convert a brood of Hive into Taken. Eventually, it would send Rhulk to dispatch the Disciple. Once it was done, Rhulk carved Tivon into pieces and brought them before the Witness. The pieces would be given to the Witness's Disciples to place within their ships to both guard and serve as a warning to any that would put their interpretation of the Final Shape over loyalty to the Witness.

Lord of the CreatedEdit

Unbeknownst to the Witness and its servants, Tivon survived. However, his will became fragmented and inhabited each piece of his body, allowing him to view every Disciple who acted as his warden.

After the Witness died in the Pale Heart of the Traveler, an Echo created from one of its memories in combination with Light and Dark would crash into a derelict Pyramid ship that housed one of his arms, empowering Tivon’s spirit and allowing him to call through the Darkness.

A month later, a Shadow Legion Psion named Vochun would answer when he discovered the arm of the Disciple. Tivon offered him power and liberty in exchange for utter loyalty, which Vochun agreed to before Tivon used the power of the Echo to ascend him into a Psion Flayer. Afterwards, Vochun and the universe would roam Sol in search of the other pieces of Tivon, recruiting many members of the now-leaderless Dread, Taken, Scorn and Shadow Legion on the way, eventually forming what would come to be known as the Created Congression.

Personality and traitsEdit

Tivon is determined to enact his idea of the Final Shape: a universe where every living creature has been reborn through Darkness into something stronger like the Taken and him. This determination borders on fanatical, even by other Disciples, as he believed that all other interpretations of what the Final Shape was were wrong. Additionally, he dislikes servants of the Witness who simply wield the Darkness instead of being remade by it, particularly the Hive, as he believes it makes them inferior, even one as mighty as Oryx.
