Compendium of the Crux Monith

Excerpts

  • "We all have creators. This truth is undeniable. Some call it the engine of evolution, others a [g]od. The choice each of us must make is whether or not to accept this truth.
  • "As their worlds were poisoned, they learned to move with bodies that were not their own. They made themselves anew. Clad in shapes of metal, they survived by ceasing to exist. Thus they became as revenants, and their enemies were filled with terror."
  • "'They looked to that which they once called home. It stared back as a stranger. They turned then to the cosmos, making soothing noises to teach it who they were, but it would not learn. They fed it pieces of themselves so it would recognize them as friends; they

removed the parts that did not smile back.'"

OS-I

"Many died in the Cyberlands, hunting the secrets of our enemies. But their sacrifices were not in vain. The data they gathered still holds within information hubs scattered across the wastes. Collecting all of these precious data fragments is essential to unlocking the mysteries of the Praetorians."

1:1 — Precursors

A distant galaxy. Hundreds of star systems stretch across the darkness like a giant tapestry, woven from the harsh light of unfamiliar and distant suns. One such system hosts a saurian-like species who would eventually build a sophisticated, starfaring civilization, spanning all of the twelve planets orbiting a binary star. They are precursors of the distant past. They are the Primeval.

The Distant Past

  • The Primeval arise on a rocky planet in an unknown star system and eventually build a sophisticated, starfaring civilization spanning all of the twelve planets orbiting a binary star.

21st Century

  • The first off-Earth colony is established on the Moon. Shortly after however, extended exposure to Luna's low gravity and lack of atmosphere begins to cause detrimental health effects to many of the colonists. As a result, the outpost is eventually shuttered.
  • An exoscience corporation known as Exodus is founded to solve the challenges of reshaping many of the Solar System's formerly inhospitable worlds into sustainable earthlike environments and to advance other vital technologies geared towards the colonization of the system.
  • Exodus initiates a terraforming project on Mars in an effort to colonize the planet. The colony ship Red Eden is launched-laden with nanites-and spearheads the transformation of the desert world. For the next 200 years, humanity would remain confined to its cradle world Earth while the terraforming process finished.

22nd Century

23rd Century

  • A first group of colonists make the journey away from Earth to the planet Mars. Upon their arrival, it is discovered that a hostile race of machines have taken control of mankind's new colony.
