Keit'Ehr was the first attempt by the [[The Witness|Witness]] to create Dread using the [[Light]] within the [[The Traveler|Traveler]]'s [[The Pale Heart|Pale Heart]] in combination with its own Resonant [[Darkness]]. The resulting being was too weak to move and remained dormant following its creation, forcing the Witness to abandon it as a failure, but not before giving it a name and instructing it to seek them out should it manage to survive, claiming that they would be recognized for their strength if they did so. From their resting place, Keit'Ehr would watch the creation of the other Dread and the [[Excision|death]] of the Witness. Only afterwards would it awaken and go on to prove its worth as a Subjugator.<ref name="Chest"/>

At some point, Keit'Ehr would be Taken through unknown means, and rechristened itself as "The Resonant Knife, First of the Reshaped". After being Taken, The Resonant Knife would lead a new force of [[Dire Taken]] to the Dreadnaught in pursuit of the [[Echo of Navigation]]. It ambushed [[Eris Morn]] and the [[Drifter]], successfully killing the former but not without first being shot point-blank in the face by Eris.
