"Dearest sisters, [...] I've found the proof. We aren't native to the Fundament. Our ancient ancestors came here to hide."
Aurash to her sisters[1]

The Krill homeworld was the original home planet of the krill species, the proto-Hive, located in the same star system as the gas giant Fundament. An unknown calamity or deliberate intent caused this world to crash into Fundament.[1]

Overview[edit]

Little is known about this world except that it was home to the krill species.[1]

According to studies made by Princess Aurash, eldest of the Osmium King's brood and first in line for the Osmium Throne, this world was once a rocky planet.[1] Presumably it possessed a similar atmospheric composition to Fundament, which is composed of Hydrogen,[2] Helium,[1] and Neon,[3] among others. A number of fragments and shards from this world survived the collision and became floating elemental continents.[4][1][2]

According to Hidden agent LAI-701, the krill continents are made "of dead stars".[5] This may be hyperbole.

Presumably there were technological-capable civilizations upon this planet, as certain Mother-krill were able to build "great engines" to move their continental shelves within Fundament,[6] lightning farms used to gather energy from lightning strikes,[7] and orrerys to plot the course of other celestial bodies.[6] Additionally, if Aurash is to be believed, the ancient krill could manipulate their planet's orbit into a collision course with Fundament and survive the ensuing cataclysm with civilization relatively intact.[1]

Locations[edit]

Trivia[edit]

  • The only definite mention of the Krill's original home planet is from Calcified Fragments: Curiosity, the prologue to the Books of Sorrow. No other information about what caused the world to collide with Fundament can be definitely ascertained, or if Rhulk, Disciple of the Witness played an even greater role in the corruption of the proto-Hive species.
  • It is not known for certain if the Krill's original home planet was one of Fundament's fifty-two satellites or independently orbited the same star.
