During the late Golden Age, Clovis Bray I became interested in studying the Vex on Europa, and commissioned a research project to develop an AI based on Vex technology which could be used to interact with and observe previously-unseen types of Vex. This research was carried out on [[Vesper Station]], an isolated research facility intended for projects at high risk of adversely interacting with other BrayTech. Following the Collapse, the Vex-derived AI (which would later become known as the Corrupted Puppeteer) remained under quarantine on Vesper Station.
===Morning Star Impact and Quarantine Breach===
After the Young Wolf's actions on the Morning Star resulted in the station falling to the surface of Europa, a piece of debris from the Morning Star impacted Vesper Station, releasing the Corrupted Puppeteer and allowing it to take control of a Fallen Exo body.
Later, the Puppeteer would terrorize a group of [[House Salvation]] refugees that were attempting to establish a new home on Vesper Station, picking them off and forcibly integrating them into its hive-mind. The Eliksni on the station referred to the Puppeteer as the "White Captain."

The Corrupted Puppeteer was an AI built by the Clovis Bray corporation using Vex technology, which Clovis Bray I intended as a programmable Vex Mind for observing their kind.[1][2] It was originally confined aboard the Vesper Station, until debris from the Morning Star impacted the station and set it loose, enabling it to transfer itself into a Fallen Exo body.[3]

When Fallen refugees from the House of Salvation attempted to establish a community near the station and build an Ether refinery, it began to hunt them down and assimilated their minds into its collective consciousness. With the Fallen under its command, it continued coordinating the construction of the Anomaly next to the Station as a communications relay, broadcasting messages into the cosmos beyond.[4] It was ultimately killed by the Guardian and their fireteam after they were sent by the Spider to investigate the station and stopped it channeling power to the megastructure.[5]

The Corrupted Puppeteer serves as the final boss of the Vesper's Host Dungeon.[5]

Trivia

  • The Exo body used by the Corrupted Puppeteer is identical in appearance to those used by Atraks-1, save for burn marks, loose wiring, a missing lower left hand and other damage to its facial structure; it is unknown if the two are actually related in some way. It is possible that Atraks' body or the replicatioin tech she had used crashed into Vesper Station along with the debris from Morning Star, and the AI then took control of it.
  • Unlike Atraks-1 in the Deep Stone Crypt Raid, when the Corrupted Puppeteer and its Broken Puppets are defeated, their physical bodies don't disappear. With the Puppets, they just collapse onto the ground, but in the Puppeteer's case, the wing-like objects on its back begin spinning uncontrollably until they collapse.
