Banes are a new combatant modifier that grants a special power of random choice to any non-champion combatant in PvE, these Banes are found exclusively in higher difficulty activities like Legend Nightfalls.
Examples of Banes

- Meteors - The Meteors Bane gives combatants the ability to launch Solar projectiles that track but can be shot down.

- Shock - Shock will continuously build up a charge that will discharge on a single target within line of sight, and killing a unit with this Bane causes it to spread to others nearby. [2]

- Drain - if you are within line of sight of the enemy (which has a lot of reach) you get Umbral Drain debuff and your health starts draining.
- Healing - the target has an aura that heals it and all nearby enemies back to full health constantly if not damaged
