Gordian Flayer are a Strand Psion Flayer variant of Weavers found in The Dread.
Gameplay[edit]
Gordian Flayers are powerful Weavers that ascended into Psion Flayers before they were reshaped by The Witness. They tend to be more elusive, occasionally sending out 3 Transverse Reeds at once. They can melee a target with an additional knock-back ability to counter any melee-based attacker. On occasion, instead of sending out multiple Transverse Reeds, they will charge up and cast their Psionic Powers to conjure a Tangle-like Snare that pulls targets in line of sight to its location like a Ether Bind Totem. All Targets pulled into a small range around the Tangle are Unravelled and Severed. Due to their high damage output, this attack should be avoided; so the Fireteam should break line of sight with the Flayer and their Snare. Once a third of their health is lost, they will call for Shadow Legion Psion Commanders to come to their aid, shielding them from all fire as well as calling for more resilient backup. The shield must be destroyed by eliminating the Shadow Legion Psion Commanders in the area in a similar fashion to how a Councilor is supposed to be killed. Once all Commanders are killed, the Flayer will be open to damage once again.
