Stormjoys were non-sapient predatory creatures native to the gas giant Fundament. Described as "living clouds," they would drift over land masses and dangle tentacles tipped with "bait stars" to attract and catch prey items. They were apparently used by old proto-Hive to commit suicide. Brave knights would seek after their bait stars, possibly as a rite of initiation. Xi Ro in particular obtained six,[1] and used them to cover her and her sisters' escape from the Helium Drinkers.[2]
Yul characterized the Traveler and its ideals of peace and order as the bait stars of the Sky.[3] [4]
