The Vex Laser Rifle is a standard issue Vex Trace Rifle wielded by Minotaurs, Harpies and Hobgoblins. It fires energy beams that deal Void damage.
Overview
Unlike the Trace Rifles wielded by Guardians, the Laser Rifle sweeps over the area instead of focusing its firepower at one particular target. According to the Ghost, it is unclear what the Vex got the use of lasers for but the Vex calibrate their weapons according to their enemies.[1]
A more powerful variant of the Laser rifle known as the Chronology Rifle is used exclusively by Dendron, Root Mind and Antioptes, Hypogean Sentinel.
Trivia
- In the Specimen ID: NES006 Quest for Episode: Echoes, the namesake specimen is an "Assimilated Torch Hammer" that is calibrated to do "medium amounts of damage" with Arc energy through a modified power source. However, the model of the weapon is that of a Vex Laser Rifle. According to Failsafe's analysis, the weapon is used commonly used by Minotaurs, but has a fragmentary energy signature and has been experimented on repeatedly. From its analysis, Failsafe discovered that the Compelled Collective used Minotaurs to override Vex frames with combat protocols, and found a way for the Guardian to use that to force high-data Vex Minds out of hiding.
