The Shadowbeasts were dark imitations of War Beasts created under rare circumstances, such as Blight Holes and the Likeness of Nokris. Shadowbeasts appeared in Gambit Prime, The Reckoning, in The Other Side Quest for Bad Juju, and in Interference missions. They fight much like War Beasts, but have even less health and no self preservation.
