Echoes are objects of Light and Dark made from the Witness's memories from its defeat in the Pale Heart.[1]

After The Witness's defeat within the Pale Heart of the Traveler, several anomalous objects holding immense power[2] exited from the portal on the Traveler, with Crow reporting to Zavala that one of them was seen heading towards the area between Jupiter and Neptune at relativistic speeds, before stopping in the orbital path of Nessus.
