Grimoire Description

The New Monarchy was one of the factions of the Last City, dedicated to protecting Humanity and intent on cultivating a new Golden Age. They were also involved in gathering recruits from the Tower for participation in the Crucible.[1] The Leaders of the faction are called Executors, their most recent leader, Executor Hideo, was the last New Monarchy representative to the Consensus, and sold a variety of New Monarchy-branded armor, weapons, and emblems to Guardians. New Monarchy also participated in the Faction Rallies event shortly after the end of the Red War.[1] New monarchs main color scheme is red and gold

History

The New Monarchy rose from the chaos of the Faction Wars with a simple, inclusive guiding tenet: "Together we will rise". Cautious of the fragile state of the City's politics, the New Monarchy maintained a watchful eye on the Speaker, the Consensus, and the Vanguard. They sought strong leadership that would reign over the City and return civilization to its Golden Age splendour. To New Monarchy, if successful leadership could not be found, then it must be created. Members of New Monarchy are known for their ambition, drive and executive legal powers. New Monarchy was also well known for arming any Guardians of The Last City who were willing to fight to reclaim the solar system.

Despite being wary of the Consensus, New Monarchy and the Guardians who pledged themselves to the faction are credited for laying the killing blow to the traitor Lysander and his Concordat, who sought to overthrow the Consensus and the Speaker, at Bannerfall, during the Faction Wars.

The Red War

When the Red Legion invaded the Last City, New Monarchy forces evacuated many civilians to safe areas outside the City, such as The Farm. They were involved in a number of other relief efforts during the Red War, even claiming to have done more than any of the other factions combined. However, following the reclamation of the Last City from the Cabal, New Monarchy began to struggle in gaining new followers, as a new "power to the people" movement inspired by Suraya Hawthorne, among others, began to spread among the populace. During this time, some within the City began stealing supplies from New Monarchy, claiming to be following "Hawthorne's lead". Despite this, New Monarchy set up a recruiting stand and new base of operations in the Bazaar, part of the Vanguard's new Tower.

Along with the other factions of the City, New Monarchy participated in a number of Faction Rallies in the year following the end of the Red War.

Season of the Splicer

During the events of Season of the Splicer, New Monarchy allied itself with Lakshmi-2 and the Future War Cult in protest of the Vanguard's decision to grant asylum to the House of Light. This alliance soon lead to an attempted coup against the Vanguard and a Vex incursion into the Eliksni Quarter of the City. Both the coup and Vex attack were swiftly thwarted by the Guardians. New Monarchy, along with the other factions, fled the City soon after. The current whereabouts of Executor Hideo and other New Monarchy leadership is unknown.

Given that the New Monarchy fled the City in Dead Orbit's fleet, it is a possibility that Dead Orbit convinced the New Monarchy of leaving the Solar System once and for all in pursuit of a new home.

Beliefs

New Monarchy insignia

New Monarchy is a staunchly pro-City faction that believes in law and order. They hope to create a new Golden Age and believe in humanity's ability to overcome all hardships. While the Faction Wars may have ended with the establishment of the Consensus, New Monarchy still aims to place an enlightened Monarchy in charge of the City in place of the currently fragile alliance between factions.[2]

New Monarchy's Executors are also expected to follow a strict set of laws on how to represent their faction and identify the one true ruler.

The Seven Tenets

  1. To secure our walls from the enemies without internal division.
  2. To secure the rights and liberties of every upstanding citizen.
  3. To sponsor the sciences of the City, and salvage the ruins beyond, so that our Golden Age might be reborn.
  4. To support the Guardian Orders by leading the City in technological innovations.
  5. To support the natural harmony of the City, and to actively dissuade any group or individual that might disrupt that harmony.
  6. To hold all individuals, compacts, and alliances to the highest standards of productivity and right behavior.
  7. To, by vote of the Consensus, abolish the Consensus, and transfer ultimate power, in order that the rights and liberties of all citizens be secured, to a single sovereign of unimpeachable character.[3]

Laws of the Executors

  • The sign of New Monarchy should come to mean comfort, safety and strength. — Vol. 1
  • When the dream is fulfilled and the day has come to crown a leader, spectacle and pomp are fitting. Spend lavishly. — Vol. 1
  • The greatest merits are found within. But even these are better displayed by sumptuous dress and a sense of style. — Vol. 1
  • To serve as an Executor is to stand as a pillar of the City. Hold your head high. — Vol. 2
  • Above all, Executors must cultivate perceptiveness, for without this, kings and queens might walk before our faces and we would not see. — Vol. 3
  • The hand of the law must fall impartially on the rich and poor, the powerful and the weak. This is required of both rulers and the Executors who serve them. — Vol. 6
  • With stout and unfailing arm, Executors shall defend the principles of monarchy to all who challenge them. — Vol. 6
  • Executors shall uphold the rights of others with all their strength until a greater leader arises to take that burden. — Vol. 6
  • We pursue an unrealized ideal, but we do so clearly, without illusions. — Vol. 9
  • With steadfast pace and upright bearing, we and those who follow us shall prevail. — Vol. 9
  • The time to walk away from a poor candidate is before the crown is offered. Executors must test and dismiss many thousands without guarantee of success. Vol. 10
  • Opportunities will arise to profit from our mission, to accrue personal power and wealth. Decline them. — Vol. 12
  • In seeking a true leader, the Executor must test the heart of each candidate, sifting through the weak, foolish, and evil for the good. — Vol. 13
  • In your long search, remember that true leaders inspire others to follow. Tyrants may exercise petty power, but they will be abandoned before long. — Vol. 13
  • While our wealth is not meant for personal use, we should remember that a taste of luxury can be instructive, even persuasive. — Vol. 13

Gear

Destiny

Players earn reputation with New Monarchy by completing reputation missions (Patrol missions, Bounties, Strikes, etc) while wearing a New Monarchy class item or the New Monarchy badge. The following items are available:

  • Rank 0: New Monarchy class item (used to acquire reputation).
  • Rank 1: New Monarchy emblems.
  • Rank 2: Legendary New Monarchy armor. Armor provides bonuses to intellect and strength.
  • Rank 3: Legendary New Monarchy weapons.[4]

In Destiny, gear is earned during the Faction Rallies by completing a variety of tasks, such as Lost Sectors and Public Events, as well as by completing Strikes. These events provide New Monarchy Tokens which can then be turned in to Executor Hideo for New Monarchy Engrams, which contain both faction-exclusive rewards and generic loot.

Quotes
