The Goblin is the basic unit within the Vex Collective.[1]

Overview

Goblins usually attack in swarms[2] and emit unusual, bird-like squawks upon finding an enemy, taking damage, or dying.[3] As with all members of the Vex collective, Goblins share a single mind. This allows them to coordinate their swarming assaults on Guardians.[4] They also carry weapons called Slap Rifles which bear resemblance to energy terminals and serve a wide variety of construction purposes as well as combat.[5]

Gameplay

Goblins are a cannon-fodder type enemy, meaning they can be dispatched with little effort. They attack in large numbers and often serve as a frontal diversion for a stronger Vex unit such as a Cyclops, Minotaur, or even a Hydra. They attack from a distance with low-level projectile weaponry and do not charge their enemies. They move slowly and do not take cover, but can teleport short distances. When their heads are shot off, they go "berserk", shooting faster while charging at their foe, with visible electricity coursing across their body, and will attempt to engage in melee. The real weak spot of a Goblin is actually its abdomen/lower stomach region where a glowing mind-core is situated. [6]

Trivia

  • Even when a Goblin is dead you can still shoot the head off of its body.[7]
  • Throughout the Destiny series, there has never been an Axis Mind with the appearance of a Goblin or even a fully named Goblin.
