The Shieldbearer Hydra, is a Vex Hydra variant encountered in the Mission On The Verge. It protects a barrier shield that the Vex are using to block off Maya's Retreat so that they can harvest the Strand source present therein.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

The Shieldbearer Hydra is surrounded by reinforcements, but has no special abilities and can be slain as preferred. Upon destruction, the Hydra drops an Energy Cell, which has to be deposited in the nearby network relay to progress the mission. Two more Hydras, either Quantum or Malignant depending on difficulty, will subsequently appear, and drop more Energy Cells upon destruction.
