The Typhon Imperator is a massive paracausal vessel used by Emperor Calus after becoming a Disciple of the Witness for the invasion of Earth and later Neptune.

History

Following his anointment as the latest Disciple of the Witness, Calus was given the Typhon Imperator as his personal flagship and base of operations for his Shadow Legion. It was first shown emerging from hiding within the shadow of Jupiter alongside Essence, the Witness' Pyramid flagship, and the rest of the Black Fleet.

During the opening events of Lightfall, the Typhon Imperator was initially seen cruising amongst the Black Fleet, and lead a whole armada of Cabal_Warships carrying his Shadow Legion troops as its own flagship. It would disembark from the rest of the Pyramid fleet towards Neptune with the intent of securing a paracausal artifact known as the Veil, hidden away at the advanced city of Neomuna. On Calus' orders, the massive ship descended downwards through the planet's atmosphere and demolished a whole district of reclaimed land within the city as its landing, looming over the city's skyline from Ahimsa Park.

Overview

The design of the Typhon Imperator incorporates both aspects of the Pyramids' haunting, geometric architecture and Calus's extravagant, gaudy tastes. Its profile is a flattened arrow-like shape, with a wide front and tapered wedge-shaped stern. There are four sections between the main body and the base of the tail wedge that are "cut out" from the broader front half of the ship's body. At the very front of the vessel's bow is what appears to be a Sphinx-like statue or figurehead of Emperor Calus in his new form as a Disciple. Directly above and behind the Calus figurehead is a flat plateau-like structure that is trapezoid-shaped when viewed from the front, possibly the ship's bridge. Behind the plateau are at least six rectangular towers. The whole hull is peppered with the same orange lights as the Pyramids.

According survey analyses ran by Neomuni city archivist Quinn Laghari, Calus's ship have hijacked many of the city's utility systems and even polluted the surrounding environment with an unknown contaminant its been dumping.

Though many of the main aspects of the Typhon Imperator's interior are similar to what was seen within Rhulk's Sunken Pyramid, Calus's characteristic love of opulence has led to golden statues of himself being found along with other aspects of Cabal memorabilia being located throughout the vessel, even chests overflowing with treasures being littered about in some hallways and chambers. As expected, likely at the center of the vessel lies a chamber with a golden throne for the emperor.

Due to the ship's massive size and length, gravity lifts are used to speed personnel and supplies over large chasms and distances.

Since the Typhon also serves as the Shadow Legion's main fortress, sections of it are filled with warships and Goliath Tanks, enough to launch a massive invasion. In addition, a chamber of the vessel was filled with pods of Cabal, likely Shadow Legion clones that were used in Calus's own experiments with the Darkness and Pyramid technology. Further, a gladiator ring was made for Calus's forces to train themselves and serve as entertainment for their emperor.

Trivia

  • Typhon is a giant monster in Greek mythology, said to be the strongest and most horrible of all Greek monsters, as well as being the father of a good number of them.
    • Imperator is a Latin word originally referring to a military commander with an esteemed prowess or repute, later becoming a popular agnomen (epithet or title) for Roman leaders during Rome's transition from a republic into an empire.
