Arc Staff is a Super available to Hunters that have chosen the Arcstrider subclass. The Arcstrider summons a Bō staff infused with Arc energy, which they use to hit enemies with.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

When Arc Staff becomes active, Arcstrider Hunters gain an electrified bō staff that can be used for combinations attacks and acrobatic maneuvers, evading enemy fire across the battlefield while closing the gap on enemy combatants; wiping whole groups with discharged lightning from each twirl of their staff. If in the air, the Hunter can slam the staff down, causing area-of-effect (AOE) damage. Arc Staff gives the hunter increased movement speed as well as unlimited dodges. Doing a combination attack in the following order: Leftclick - Leftclick - Rightclick, will unleash a powerful shockwave from the hunter's palm, doing massive damage in front of them.

With Lethal Current on the Way of the Warrior perkset, Arc Staff attacks can hit twice after dodging. Arcstriders can also gain damage resistance while dodging with Lightning Reflexes on the Way of the Wind perkset. With Whirlwind Guard is active on the Way of the Current, Arcstriders can twirl their bō staves and generate an electric current that can deflect enemy projectiles and even other thrown Supers, tripling its damage output for a short time. With the release of 3.0 subclasses, all of these passive modifiers are not longer applicable with the exception of Whirlwind Guard.

History[edit]

At the onset of the Red War, the Arc Staff were first revealed to the Guardian in a vision from the Traveler; beckoning them to its broken shard in the European Dead Zone. Once the Guardian reclaimed their Light at the shard, they had also access to the Arcstrider subclass and its Arc Staff super ability; which was used to defeat numerous local Fallen including Skriviks, the Sharp-Eyed. Many other Lightless Guardians also journeyed to receive the Arcstrider subclass after harvesting Light from the shard as well.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Super features the first physical staff that Guardians can wield in battle.
  • The ability is reminiscent of martial arts combatants.
  • It is the successor to the Hunter's previous Destiny 1 Arc super the Bladedancer
