Akriniks I

Akriniks stared deeply at the closed Hive tomb that rested on the desk before him. Covered by a chitinous shell and its pages made of dead flesh.

He questioned how it had found itself within his own Ketch.

Was it one of his own men?

Were they trying to trick him into opening it?

Was there a traitor in his own ranks?

He could hear derelict whispers calling out to him from the eldritch tome. He needed to secure it, or better yet, remove it entirely.

He called for one of his Vandals to enter into the room and take the book. However something in Akriniks took hold of him as he drew his blade and gutted his own Vandal.

What had he done? He would think. What was this sudden urge that told him to kill one of his own?

With one of his bloodied hands, he opened the tome. He felt the hard cover new senses. He read through the fleshy pages with new eyes.
