"The Final Shape created the logic: To believe otherwise is heresy."
— Kuldax

Kuldax, is a Hive Disciple of the Witness. A mysterious entity in power and origin, Kuldax is a preacher of Hive knowledge and is seen as a sort of prophet. His teachings inspired those like Anziluu and those that would make the weapons from the Altars of Sorrow and likely inspired the creation of the Weapons of Sorrow themselves.

Shrouded in mystery, Kuldax has spread chaos throughout the universe, plaguing many species that he would come across and turning their worlds into War Moons. Legends claim that he was present during the Black Fleet's arrival on Riis and corrupting Humanity during the Collapse by crafting death cults for himself and the Witness.

Biography

Old Legends

"The Deep is the call to Salvation: to live against it is apostasy. Embrace it and be reborn."
— Kukdax to the Eliksni

While his origins are left ambiguous, what is known about Kuldax is his rise as a Disciple to the Witness. He would be known as a force of death and destruction, revered by his own Hive cult that worshipped and obeyed his every whim. His teachings would inspire the Hive, most notably Shin'ra, the Sorrow-Maker, who would become the first to craft the Weapons of Sorrow and Anziluu, the Ravenous, who took his teachings as prophecies for that which would soon transpire.

He would be most notable for his assault on Riis at the behest of the Witness and brought forth the Whirlwind that devastated the Eliksni civilization through the use of Stasis, giving the event its moniker of a "vast storm." His assault on the Eliksni made them fear the name of Kuldax and the very power he wielded, eventually he would earn the title of the Scourge or Riis. He would continue to hunt down Eliksni stragglers during the Long Drift by crippling their fleeing Ketches of their fuel and supplies, forcing remnant Houses to die in the vastness of space.

Infection of Clovis Bray

"-—Seek out our fleeing foe. Turn its new sycophants into our heralds.-—
Yes my Witness.
-—The Veil is ready, prepare Sol for our arrival.-—
Nothing will stop the Final Shape.
"
— The Witness to Kuldax during the Golden Age

During the Golden Age of Humanity, the Witness directed Kuldax to infiltrate the Sol System and infect its inhabitants into servitude to the Black Fleet. He would instigate the infection through the K1 Artifact that would be acquired by the Clovis Bray Corporation. He would begin to corrupt the minds of the K1 crew with "delusions of grandeur" with the power he claimed he would offer to those that were "willing to understand."

His actions would attract the attention of Clovis Bray I, who instructed him to go to Europa to understand "clarity" to this new power. Placing the veiled statue on Europa, he sought to further infect Humanity with the method of using the veiled statues and their connection to the Witness and to help build his death cult.

Upon the arrival of Clovis Bray on Europa, they quickly uncovered the veiled statue. While they sought by to move the statue to a more secure place to study it, Kuldax murdered those that sought to love the statue. However he was unable to stop them from moving it into the Deep Stone Crypt. While taking note of the incident, Clovis sought to hide the origin to the deaths of the scientists in order to prevent mass panic.

Midway through Clovis's studies of the artifact, he began to hear whispers from Kuldax to build a massive portal for his own forces to traverse through, however Clovis interpreted it as instructions from the statue to build a Vex gateway. While he sought to turn Clovis away from completing the gate, he instead chose to direct the region of space that the gate would open into, being 2082 Volantis, a massive Vex occupied system. This would lead to Belmon, Transcendent Mind's first invasion on Europa. After the ongoing assaults by the Vex and creation of the Exos, Kuldax would leave Europa to continue in his mission elsewhere, believing that his task on Europa was complete.

Collapse

"You call to your Traveler for help.
You will be offered none.
Salvation is all that awaits you now.
Darkness awaits your hand.
And you shall be embraced into its fold.
"
— Kuldax to the scientists on Io

During the Collapse, Kuldax would begin his chase of the Traveler, which had moved to Io. During the subsequent retreat of the Traveler and creation of Ionian Cradle, he was unable to get to the Traveler before its move to Earth. Kuldax invaded the remaining human inhabitants of Io by assaulting the Seraph Bunker and attempted to connect to Rasputin's Warsat Network. The Warmind responded to Kuldax's breach into the Seraph Bunker by activating its defense network. His defenses were no match against the Disciple's power and Rasputin was disconnected from the Seraph Bunker and the various facilities on Io.

Kuldax set his ships to siphon the remaining energy left by the Traveler and to reform Io back into its pre-terraformed state. This would happen around the same time of the Traveler's sacrifice and Savathûn's betrayal to the Witness by killing Nezarec. The outburst made by the Traveler forced Kuldax and his ships to flee from out and to rejoin the rest of the Black Fleet in the outer regions of space beyond Sol.

Dark Age

"I heard them, the whispers. They told me to come to this place. I was richly rewarded for it."
— Unnamed Warlord during the Dark Age.

During the events of the Dark Age, Kuldax managed to influence Warlord to take over a fortress deep within the Himalayan mountains. The Warlord would successfully take over the fortress, only to be slaughtered by "dark crystalline" Hive in service to Kuldax.

Interference

"The Witch delays the inevitable.
She cannot stop the Final Shape.
She defeated the Disciple of Fear, but she will not stop me.
"
— Kuldax refers to Savathûn's interference.
