Biography
The Ancient Past
As with the other Worm Gods, Yul's origins are unknown. At some point, he and the other Worm Gods - Eir, Ur, Xol, Akka, and their mother Xita - were trapped deep within the gas giant planet Fundament.
When the progenitors of the Hive - three sisters named Aurash, Xi Ro, and Sathona - delved into the core of Fundament and encountered the Worm Gods, Yul addressed them and offered a bargain: allow their bodies to be parasitized by the Worm Gods' larvae in exchange for immortality and paracausal abilities. The sisters accepted, and began their transformation into the god-kings of the nascent Hive.[1]
Sometime after the slaying of Akka, the Worm of Secrets by Oryx, the Taken King, Yul began planning to consume and absorb the power of Xol, Will of the Thousands, causing Xol to flee alongside Oryx's abandoned son Nokris.[2]
Trivia
- Yul is spelled Yuul in some item names.
- Yul describes himself as having wings, while none of the other Worm Gods seen thus far have had wings. The significance of this is unknown, but may be related to Yul's implied status as the most powerful of the Worm Gods.
