Cataclysm is a location within Essence, the command ship of The Witness. It is the first area of the Pyramid, housing a collection of various antiquities, alongside the tomb of Nezarec, Final God of Pain. A team of Guardians would traverse through the area multiple times in the Root of Nightmares Raid, terraforming the area itself in order to end Nezarec once and for all.

History

Once the Raid Fireteam accessed the Pyramid, they would attempt to stop the Shadow Legion along with slowing the heartbeat of Nezarec himself. The Guardians would succeed in slowing the heartbeat of Nezarec and traverse towards the Scission. While they would empower the Tree of Silver Wings within the heart of the Pyramid, it would begin to terraform it, with the area of Cataclysm and the Nezarec's tomb at the heart of it. It would also play as the final battle of Nezarec where he would fight against the Guardians who had helped in his resurrection.[1]
