Acanthos, Gate Lord is a Vex Gate Lord encountered on Nessus. Like Zydron and Qodron, Gate Lord, it is embodied in a massive Minotaur chassis. It is the first boss encountered in the mission Six.

Biography

Acanthos is first encountered in the Glade of Echoes during the mission Six, combating the invading Fallen forces on Nessus and blocking the path to the Exodus Black. Once destroyed, the Vex gate is unlocked, allowing the Guardian to advance forward.

Gameplay

Acanthos will automatically be seen fighting the Fallen when entering the Well of Echoes. It will already have taken damage, as seen by its health bar, and have inferably destroyed the Fallen Walkers as seen scattered amongst the battlefield. When spotted, the player will be bombarded with Void blasts from Acanthos while being swarmed by both Fallen and Vex. After damaging Acanthos for some amount of time, the Vex Mind will retreat until reaching a barrier, where it will fight the player until dead. Killing the Gate Lord will allow the player to enter the shielded area.

Trivia

• Acanthos is the third Gate Lord encountered in the Destiny series, with Zydron being encountered in Eye of a Gate Lord and Qodron, Gate Lord in The Forever Eater.
