The Ice Reapers are a Cabal detachment of elite Psions led by a council of powerful Psion Flayers.[1]
Overview
The Ice Reapers are among the more diminutive but powerful Cabal detachments deployed to Mars; they are even speculated by a majority of the Warlock orders to have moved Phobos from its natural orbit to its current position as a potential kinetic orbital weapon.[2]
History
When Rasputin had unleashed an orbital bombardment of Warsats on both Cabal and Vex sides during a battle, Valus Ta'aurc immediately ordered the Flayers to locate the source of the Warmind's transmissions.[3] The Cabal deployed a coalition of Sand Eaters and Siege Dancers to secure the Dust Palace as the Ice Reapers made attempts to hack into Rasputin from the central AI's cortex. Their presence, coupled with some resistance from the Vex, would alert the Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6 and brought a fireteam of Guardians to retake the Dust Palace. The Siege Dancers, aided by a group of Psion Operants, would halt the Guardians' advance temporarily by overriding the building's security protocols. This gave time for the Flayers, having located to The Cortex on top of the skyscraper, to penetrate the Warmind's defenses and infiltrate Rasputin's mind network. Their success was instead reversed due to intervention of the Guardian's Ghost as the Flayers were forced out of the cortex and then killed by the ensuing fireteam.[1]
At some point, three other Flayers from the Ice Reapers had defect to join the Broken Legion under Val Aru'un, to which they appear in the Prison of Elders when Aru'un is executed by Guardians.[4]

Trivia
- The Ice Reapers is the first Cabal detachment not to have its own Grimoire card.
- Due to the Legion name, fans speculated there was a secret Cabal base on Europa or the polar caps of Mars.[5] On the other hand, the word "reap" connotes the Psions' role as support units, given they are never deployed in large numbers and are trusted to handle Cabal technology[6].
- However now that both areas have been thoroughly mapped and Mars' removal from the game, this is most likely untrue.
