- — Ayane Takanome[2]
Before the rise of the Guardians, she and her Rangers, armed with sniper rifles and cloaking tech perched upon mountains, made it their mission to defend refugees making their way to the growing city beneath the Traveler from all foes, Fallen and human alike[2][3]. Eventually, they were succeeded by the Guardians who became more common, and while the City still remembers her for her courageous deeds, some began to say that she was just a myth all along[4]. She was commemorated by the President of Daito, Chiyoko Mey[5], and had a ship named after her[2].
Hunters use a set of armor named in the Rangers' honor, while Ayane had a cloak dedicated to her[6]. Another cloak commemorating the Rangers can be seen, supposedly sporting the camouflage pattern similar to what the Rangers wore back in the day[7].
