The Vex Mythoclast is an Exotic Fusion Rifle obtainable in Destiny by completing the Vault of Glass raid on Hard mode. It is also available in Destiny 2 as a rare drop from the final chest in the reprised Vault of Glass raid.

Upgrades
Upgrades
The Vex Mythoclast has an upgrade tree similar to other Exotic weapons. It possesses the Aggressive Ballistics, Linear Compensator, and Smart Drift Control upgrades on its first column of upgrade nodes. The next non-damage upgrade is Zen Moment, an upgrade that causes the Mythoclast to increase stability upon causing damage. Its next column of three contains the Extended Mag upgrade, increasing the magazine to 35, the Send It upgrade, increasing range and accuracy, and the Lightweight upgrade, giving the player +2 Agility while wielding it. After the second column, the Vex Mythoclast unlocks the Crowd Control upgrade, causing it to deal increased damage after every kill.

Barrel upgrades
Gameplay
*Aggressive Ballistics: More predictable recoil. Enhanced impact. Shorter range and more recoil.
The Mythoclast is a very powerful weapon in both PvE and PvP. In general gameplay, it possesses a high rate of fire and a high damage value. With the House of Wolves expansion, the maximum Attack values for the Mythoclast and other Exotics have been increased to 365 with an expenditure of 1500 Glimmer, 25 weapon parts and an Exotic Shard . Due to its high rate of fire and low stability, the Mythoclast is recognized as having a high amount of recoil. In PvP it is widely considered to be one of the most powerful weapons in Destiny history. It is often seen that  many current Power Weapons would not be able to compete with Vex Mythoclast pre-nerf. The Vex Mythoclast possesses a very high precision damage rate, at 1.5x, making it a very effective weapon for getting headshots. It is very common to run out of ammo quickly with the Mythoclast, as it has a high fire rate and only a 21 magazine. It is this reason that the Extended Mag upgrade is one of the more popularly used ones. The Vex Mythoclast can carry a maximum ammo reserve of 175 (extended mag, 147 for 21-round magazine), but in a recent update has been increased to 200. Previously before the update, with armor that allows a player carry more ammo for fusion rifles, it was 227, but after the update, was increased to 250. In a later update, this was again changed to 161 (with 203 in reserve with Fusion Rifle ammo-carrying armor mods), and finally changed in Update 2.0 with Extended Mag changed to 28 instead of 35 with a reserve of 140 (with Fusion Rifle ammo carrying armor mods, this changes to 163). The Attack value was also changed from 365 to 170 Attack.
*Linear Compensator: More predictable recoil. Slight boosts to range and impact. More recoil.
*Smart Drift Control: Predictable and controllable recoil. Penalty to range.

Special perk
Trivia
*Zen Moment: Causing damage with this weapon increases its stability.
*The name "Mythoclast" is derived from the Greek words "mûthos", or "fable/legend" and klastós or "broken in pieces". Thus the literal definition of the name is "Breaker of Myths" or “Destroyer of Myths”.
*Crowd Control: Kills with this weapon grant bonus damage for a short time.
*The Mythoclast is the first primary exotic weapon that does solar damage in Destiny.

*After Update 2.0, the in-game screen of the weapon mistakenly shows a magazine size of three rounds.
Stat modifiers
*The Ishtar Collective may have gathered data on this weapon and its function and inner workings as part of their Infinity Initiative in the late Golden Age, leading to the development of Pocket Infinity
*Extended Mag: A larger magazine. (Increases magazine to 35)
*The weapon is forged from the same materials as active Vex in the Ishtar Sink and is considered an active, if non-sentient, part of their neuro-electronic network.
*Send It: Increases range and accuracy.
*This is the only Vault of Glass weapon not forged by Kabr or a member of the Lost Legion.
*Lightweight: When held, this weapon grants +2 character Agility.
*The Titan Joxer owned a Mythoclast prior to the Red War.

Exotic perk
*Timeless Mythoclast: This weapon has no charge time. It fires a single bolt with each trigger pull.

Some legends live forever. Others are overwritten—reshaped by the sheer will of those who believe that any ordeal can be conquered, any foe vanquished, any god cast down.

Gameplay
Like its Destiny counterpart, the Vex Mythoclast is unique amongst fusion rifles. Instead of charging up a rapid burst of bolts, the Vex Mythoclast fires in full-auto. Additionally and unlike its Destiny counterpart, it has a 360 rpm fire rate, very little damage falloff, range comparable to best-in-class Auto Rifles, and infinite ammunition due to the addition of infinite primary ammunition to the game.  Further unlike its Destiny incarnation, the Destiny 2 version of the Vex Mythoclast is a hybrid weapon capable of switching between its auto rifle mode to a linear fusion rifle mode. Kills overcharge the weapon, up to a maximum of six, at which point it can switch to its linear fusion rifle mode. Different enemy tiers provide differing charge levels (Red-Bar: 1 level, Orange-Bar: 2 levels, Yellow-Bar: either 3 or 2 levels but currently unconfirmed).  The linear fusion bolts are quite powerful, as each one can instantly kill a Hydra or Cyclops in a single shot from a considerable distance, provided said shot is a precision hit, and they can also pierce and kill two to three targets at once provided that they are fairly weak.  Bolts fired from the Vex Mythoclast in either mode can also ricochet if they hit the ground at an angle.

Strategy
The Vex Mythoclast is extremely versatile, being effective at all ranges provided the user can get enough kills.  The Auto Mode and Linear Mode each have separate strategies as seen below:

Auto Mode
While it is not particularly high-damage, the Auto Mode of the Vex Mythoclast is good at crowd control at both close and medium ranges, and can even do some damage at long range, but this is fairly inefficient.  While in Auto Mode, kills with the weapon will grant stacks of Overcharge to the weapon for the Linear Mode and, if the catalyst is active, will improve damage, accuracy and stability.  All in all, Auto Mode is recommended for close-to-medium-range crowd control combat like most Auto Rifles.

Linear Mode
The Mythoclast's Linear Mode has only three shots per full charge as opposed to the Auto Mode's 33 shots per clip, but has much higher damage and longer range than the Auto Mode. It is not suitable for crowd control and is instead used for killing sniper enemies, such as Psions, Hobgoblins, Tracer Shanks, some Vandals, and Raiders, or dealing damage to Bosses.  The Linear Mode can also be used to destroy certain objects of importance, such as Oracles or Conflux cubes, in a single hit.  All in all, Linear Mode is recommended for long-range sniper combat or Boss fight DPS phases.

Perks
*Timeless Mythoclast: This weapon fires full auto when in its default firing mode.
*Arrowhead Brake: Lightly vented barrel. Greatly controls recoil. Increases handling speed.
*Volatile Battery: This battery simultaneously exists in multiple timelines, causing the weapon to Overcharge.
*Temporal Unlimiter: Defeating targets builds stacks of Overcharge. Hold R to swap firing modes when fully Overcharged. In alternative firing mode, hold the trigger to charge up and fire more powerful linear fusion shots.
*Hand-Laid Stock: This weapon is optimized for recoil control. Increases stability.

Exotic Catalyst
*Calculated Balance: While in full auto mode, final blows with this weapon grant bonus damage, accuracy, and stability for a short duration.

*This weapon seems to be based off of a Vex Slap Rifle, with its alternate fire mode in Destiny 2 acting similar to a Line Rifle.
*The weapon's flavor text and perks explain the means by which it operates as follows:
**The flavor text reads "...a causal loop within the weapon's mechanism, suggesting that the firing process somehow binds space and time into...", which although it appears to be a small section of a larger analysis, can actually be fed back into itself: "a causal loop within the weapon's mechanism, suggesting that the firing process somehow binds space and time into a causal loop within the weapon's mechanism, suggesting that the firing process somehow binds space and time into a causal loop within the weapon's mechanism," etc.  This explains how the Auto Mode of the Vex Mythoclast operates; the weapon is locked in a time-loop that fires the first bolt of a burst, then resets.  The process repeats over and over again as long as the trigger is held down.
**The weapon's Linear Mode can be explained by its two unique perks, Volatile Battery and Temporal Unlimiter.  Volatile Battery states that "This battery simultaneously exists in multiple timelines, causing the weapon to Overcharge".  Temporal Unlimiter states that "Defeating targets builds stacks of Overcharge. Hold R to swap firing modes when fully Overcharged. In alternative firing mode, hold the trigger to charge up and fire more powerful linear fusion shots".  This suggests that defeating targets with the Vex Mythoclast causes it to pull energy from alternate timeline variants of itself, which it stores within itself until the Linear Mode is activated, at which point the Mythoclast can fire three powerful long-ranged shots empowered with energy drawn from alternate versions of itself in other timelines, similar to how No Time To Explain operates.
*The fact that the Vex Mythoclast is "mysteriously fit for human hands" suggests that the Vex may be experimenting with benefitting from Guardian activities in some way or other, using data gathered from the Mythoclast's use to further some unknown hidden agenda despite the fact that the weapon is often used against the Vex just as it is used against all other enemies.
*When first introduced Vex Mythoclast was one of the most overpowered weapons in the Crucible, dealing 56 critical damage and 45 to the body. This would put it along side some modern heavy machine guns while only being in the primary slot. Despite this, due to its extreme difficulty in acquiring, only being obtainable by chance through Hard Mode Vault of Glass, it was only used by a fraction of the player base originally. However, its impact was quickly felt and its base damage was eventually lowered by 34% in patch 1.0.2.2.
