===A Military Life===
Te'Qal was a renowned soldier, leading several victories against the enemies of the Qugu. One such victory was a war with a space-faring civilization known as the Murin, which attacked the Qugu "outer ring." The Qugu were on the back foot but during a battle, a squadron led by Te'Qal used drones to distract the carriers as the Qugu sabotaged the Murin carriers. When the squadron finally attacked, the Murin carriers could not defend themselves and were destroyed. Another victory was when Te'Qal led a clandestine raid on the rebellious planet of [[Se'Ugn]], bringing the rebels to negotiation, where they achieved peace. Two years after becoming Warden, Te'Qal led a fleet to investigate the Qugu system of [[Se'Un]], which had gone silent. Upon arriving in Se'Un, the fleet encountered a massive void where the system had previously been, which revealed itself to be a portal that disgorged a fleet of Hive ships. Although the Qugu managed to destroy some of the invaders, they were forced to retreat to Seht for reinforcements.<ref name="step"/>

The Hive ravaged every world in the Qugu's home system of [[Se'Tar]], eventually converging on Seht itself. Te'Qal led the remaining Qugu forces in defense of their homeworld, fending off the Hive to buy time for the Qugu's ark-ships as they lifted soil from Seht's sacred grove lands in preparation for colonizing a new system far from the danger. During the battle, a flagship belonging to [[Savathûn, the Witch Queen|Savathûn]] arrived and took position over Seht's Mountain, a site of holy significance to the Qugu, and detonated a blast of soulfire that decimated the surrounding Hive and Qugu vessels and provoked a response in the Mountain below. The Mountain revealed itself to be a [[Pyramid]] and rose from its resting place on the surface of Seht to meet the Hive fleet. As Te'Qal led their fleet to the jump gate leading to Se'Otan, they used their ship's nectar-dispensing faculty to induce a vision of their mentor [[Te'Dura]], which bolstered their resolve to achieve victory for their people.{{Citation needed}}

After they arrived at the gate to Se'Otan, Te'Qal watched the ark-ships jump through, noticing that the gate had been inscribed with green-glowing runes that flared with each jump; sure enough, upon passing through the gate, Te'Qal discovered that it had been reconfigured to lead into the [[Ascendant Realm]], where Savathûn's Hive and the Pyramid were waiting for them. As Te'Qal engaged the Hive, Oryx's flagship arrived, launching an assault on Savathûn's flagship. Te'Qal took advantage of the distraction to rally their remaining fleet in a final stand against the Pyramid, drawing upon the fury and grief of their ancestors to manifest a massive Resonant blast which impaled the Pyramid. As the Pyramid exploded in a wave of Resonance that annihilated the Hive and Qugu, Te'Qal heard the voice of [[the Witness]], who preserved Te'Qal's mind as a memory within the Darkness as they died.<ref name="cry"/>

Untold aeons later, the Witness was destroyed by the [[The Coalition|Coalition]] within [[the Pale Heart]] of the [[Traveler]], releasing its Darkness to merge with the Traveler's Light. As a result, several of the Witness' Darkness-preserved memories of various species it and its followers had conquered were rendered into physical form by the Light, creating paracausal artifacts known as Echoes which escaped the Pale Heart and landed throughout the Sol System.
