:It hasn't. Until Rise of Iron came out, all we knew was that the Fallen had an aptitude for technology of almost any sort. When Rise of Iron came out, we learned each House has its own set of Splicers that specialize in technology. So it stands from inference that Skolas used both Wolf and Winter Splicers to co-opt the Vault of Glass' technology, especially that of the Oracles. As for specific mentioning, that was inferred, but basically Splicers have existed before in Destiny, they just weren't named. --{{User:Dante the Ghost/Sig}} 18:00, 13 December 2016 (EST)

==Light Splicers: new addition?==
So to settle this discussion once and for all.

The proposal is to give the "Sacred Splicers", or rather the group explicitly affiliated with [[Mithrax, Kell of Light]], their own page separate from the main Splicers article for two reasons:
*There's a lot of information specific to the "Light Splicers" and their activities in helping the City and the Guardians during the Endless Night, with [https://www.destinypedia.com/index.php?title=Destinypedia:Sandbox&diff=prev&oldid=306270 a total of 21 citations] to back this up, with potentially more to be found and added, and not at all relevant to the actual Splicers page, which is an overview of the Eliksni organization itself just as there are [[House of Devils]] or [[House of Exile]] groups instead of all that information tucked away on the gigantic [[Fallen]] page. 
:Having information specifically related about Light Splicers in one easily accessible space makes it easy for people trying to learn more about them or to add more relevant information to them. Or worse, Bungie looking for more things to canonize, like [[Eramis, Kell of Darkness]]. (This last is said in jest.)
*There have been other notable Fallen groups separate from the mainline Houses with their own pages. Two were cited to me specifically, the [[Silent Fang]] and [[Taniks' Crew]]. The former has had Grimoire lore and predates the launch of House of Wolves DLC via the [[Queen's Wrath (event)]], and the latter because Taniks' the mercenary logically didn't do everything by himself and as [[The Spider]] has shown us it doesn't take much for Eliksni to rally around leaders outside the Kell and House system.

I can see no real objections raised to this, other than the use of the name "Sacred Splicer" which I now know correctly applies to the Splicers as a whole. Instead, "Light Splicer" ought to be the new article. Destinypedia has used placeholder names before. Bungie's even canonized [[Sol Collective]] after nearly six years of it being a placeholder name for that Vex collective.

The only other real objection I can see raised is both Dusk and Salvation having Splicers of their own, and that neither group did much to warrant their own articles either. That is all right; they did do their things, but since their articles would be the equivalent of stubs it's fine to have them listed as subheaders beneath their respective House pages and the main Splicer page, rather than take up space.

I don’t understand how Sacred Splicers applies to Splicers as a whole? Was the term an antiquated name to describe the latter around the time of the Eliksni golden age? Back when they worshipped the Great Machine and used its Light. Also Splicers are akin to an Eliksni occupation but the Sacred Splicer can apply to any who wields the Light, including [[Guardians]].

I could see making a separate page for the Sacred Splicers since they mentioned them several times involving Mithrax. However, I feel like there’s not much information involving Sacred Splicers before Mithrax to make a page but a subsection could do but again idk. Light Splicers could be included to Sacred Splicers but at the same time, Mithrax kinda just make Sacred Splicer be synonymous with just Splicers in general, I don’t know what reference was it so I could be misremembering but I think I heard Mithrax recently had made them somewhat synonymous with eachother. I think maybe do a subsection for now possibly like how we did with the Scorned Barons under Scorn. But that’s just my opinion. {{User:Joskaa/Sig}}12:51, August 6, 2024 (EDT)

What separated the Sacred Splicers from the Splicers of today is that they still worship [[the Traveler]] and use [[Light]] with their Splicer technology, that reverence is what the Splicers were originally. while deep diving this is what I found:
*1. In the final entry of the lore book [[Lore:Achilles Weaves a Cocoon]], when [[Namrask]] said he distrusts Splicers citing the [[Devil Splicers]], Mithrax clarifies that he is "...am an older kind of Splicer. Those who look for the Light in all things." This is suggesting that the Splicers originally worshipped the Light in the past.
*2. In the second entry of [[Lore:Above All Else]] back around the time of the [[Long Drift]], Mithrax's mother [[Inaaks]] mentions that some of her [[House of Wolves]] still "...refuse to abandon the old ways" and drape themselves in the Splicers' old raiment, "...praying to a [[The Traveler|god]] that [[Whirlwind|doomed]] us all". Those lines suggest that the Splicers essentially abandoned their worship of the Great Machine after it left them. 

So if you think about it, the Sacred Splicers on a whole might as well be Mithrax's own personal reinterpretation of what the Splicers should have been and has spread that to his own House.Kuato, Didactic Mind 13:34, August 6, 2024 (EDT)

I figured that they had to be synonymous with eachother, so that statement you said I agree. But because of that, that would be a good reason why the Sacred Splicers needs a dedicated section to this page rather than be its own page since they’re seemingly from older times. {{User:Joskaa/Sig}}21:43, August 6, 2024 (EDT)

But the difference is that during that season the narrative puts a ton of emphasis of the Sacred Splicers being Mithrax’s own off-shoot group instead of your standard run-of-the-mill Splicers in present time. Even [[Rahool]] of the [[Cryptarch|Cryptarchy]] addressed the group as the “Sacred Splicers OF the House of Light” in the [[Splicer Gauntlet]] lore tab. So while they are Splicers by definition, this is what they  essentially chosen to be addressed as a group to differentiate themselves.

Another thing, I analyzed Sorrow’s comment he left on his rollback about [[Ikora Rey]]’s quote from the opening cinematic of [[Season of the Splicer]]. 
I don’t believe there’s enough logical merit from her POV given the limited intel she initially received from her [[Hidden]] agents about the kind of Splicer [[Mithrax]] is. What makes this more dubious was the fact she was first recommended Mithrax by "[[Osiris]]" aka [[Savathûn, the Witch Queen]].

I've made my decision.
*"Light Splicers" can be a subsection on [[House of Light]]'s main article until we get more information to warrant a full on expansion like how the [[Devil Splicers]] are. 
*"Sacred Splicers" can be referenced in the main [[Splicers]] article as another name for the term Splicer, as well as why it's part of its history. The actual term itself will stay as a redirect to the main article.
*All other "[House] Splicers" get subsections on their own related House pages, like [[House of Salvation]] or [[House of Dusk]].

That should cover everything adequately. As for why [[Taniks' Crew]] and [[Silent Fang]] are their own separate entities; the former, Taniks' Crew, are not part of a House but part of Taniks the Scarred; and the latter because they're already identified as their own subgroup explicitly in Grimoire lore and through the [[Queen's Wrath (event)]].
