At some point, before it arrived in the Sol System, the Traveler visited Riis, bestowing its gifts upon the Eliksni and raising them into a Golden Age of prosperity. One of the blessings it provided was a substance called Ether, which infused the planet's environment and caused increased plant and animal growth. Initially, this resulted in an uncontrolled profusion of wildlife which made the planet more dangerous for the Eliksni, necessitating the appointment of "[[Slayer Baron]]s" who would go out and tame the wilderness.<ref name="Judgment"/>

In the aftermath, the surviving Eliksni became embroiled in a bloody civil war over their civilization's ruins, before achieving a tenuous peace and abandoning what remained of Riis to embark on a century-long journey into space to locate the Traveler in hopes of returning to their former glory.
