'''Kataxiia, Tormentor of the Ahamkara''' is a [[Tormentor]] encountered within a mountain concealing a memory of the Precursor civilization that would later merge their minds together to become [[The Witness|the Witness]].

==Gameplay==
Kataxiia, Tormentor of the Ahamkara will appear when the fireteam enters into a Pyramidal structure with lava in the middle. It possesses Intial Immunity, will remain fixed at the back of the room, and summon fourth Taken reinforcements once the encounter has been started. To dispel its immunity, the Guardians must receive Taken Essence from the left and right sides of the room and use them to activate the two Ahamkara skulls. On the right side of the room, they can either enter a portal that will take them to the end of a long hallway where a Essence resides, or simply navigate down the hallway. Once they have retrieved the essence, the room will activate obstacles and lava will begin to fall from above, making the room more difficult to traverse. They must run down the hallway and avoid the falling lava, which will instantly kill them once it descends upon them. To retrieve the other Essence, they must enter the left room and retrieve the Essence at the back. Upon retrieving it, lava which is severely harmful when stepped on will begin to rise from the floor. They must then traverse across the room to jump through one of the square holes in the ceiling to the top and use the Essence to power the skull. Once the skulls have been empowered, Kataxiia will become unfixed and teleport away.

Kataxiia will be encountered once more within a large cave cavern with a large Ahamkara skull at the front of the cave, where it will jump down from the opening to confront the Guardians. When Kataxiia loses half of its health, it will teleport unto the large Ahamkara skull and stand fixed, summoning hordes of [[Shadow Thrall]]s in the process. The Guardians must once again must empower two Ahamkara skulls using Taken Essence's from the left and right side of the caverns. On the right side, they must enter an Ahamkara mouth and retrieve the essence from within, while avoiding [[Acolyte's Eye]]s within the stomach, and Shadow Thralls falling from Taken ruptures in the Esophagus. While on the left side, they must enter an Ahamkara mouth and traverse down the hallway where the Essence resides at the end, either by going through the portal which directly takes them there, or by running down the hallway. Once they have received the essence, obstacles will activate and lava will fall from the ceiling. When this process is completed, Kataxiia loses its immunity and returns to the battle. Upon losing two thirds of its health, it will retreat unto the Ahamkara skull and become immobile once again while bringing fourth Shadow Thrall's. Eventually it will summon Bound Dread units, including [[Mhakt, Subjugator of the Forgotten]]. Slaying Mhakt will drop a Taken Essence, which the Guardians must use to empower another Ahamkara skull. Kataxiia will then lose its immunity and return to the battle. Once Kataxiia is slain the Strike is complete.

*Kataxiia and the Tormentor variant of the [[Cornerstone of the Witness|Cornerstones of the Witness]] share a similar head design to that of [[Nezarec, Final God of Pain]] as they bear two pointed horns on their heads, similar to Nezarec's head design.
