Their presence, coupled with some resistance from the [[Vex]], would alert the [[Hunter]] [[Vanguard]] [[Cayde-6]] and bring a fireteam of [[Guardians]] to retake the Dust Palace. The [[Siege Dancers]], aided by a group of Psion Operants, would halt the Guardians' advance temporarily by overriding the building's security protocols. This gave time for the Flayers, having located to [[The Cortex]] on top of the skyscraper, to penetrate the Warmind's defenses and infiltrate Rasputin's mind network. Their success was instead reversed due to intervention by the Guardian's Ghost as the Flayers were forced out of the cortex and then killed by the ensuing fireteam.<ref name="Palace"/>
