After the events of [[Forum:Season of Sorrow|Season of Sorrow]], the dark force known as [[Forum:Tarnished|the Tarnished]], abominations created by linking [[Hive]] minds with [[the Veil]], have begun their rebellion against the one who initially brought them into the physical universe, [[Forum:Shin'ra, the Sorrow-Maker|Shin'ra]]. They would begin their rebellion by invading the Nephilim, which prompted the Guardians to investigate. They would learn of these Hive abominations and the potential threat they would pose, with [[Forum:Azathoth, the Blind Sleeper|Azathoth, the Blind Sleeper]], prophesizing the return of [[Forum:Mallum, the Scarlet King|the Scarlet King]].

Like all of its predecessors, the Takedown is rife with challenging enemies and is notorious for its unforgiving checkpoint system, only providing three save spots: the Stronghold, after completing Toil and Trouble, and after defeating [[Forum:Bismuth, Disciple of Shin'ra|Bismuth]] for those who seek to acquire the [[Forum:Foul Instinct|Foul Instinct]] [[Exotic]] [[Sidearm]].
