'''Evocators''' are powerful humanoid entities commanded by [[the Witness]], its [[Disciples of the Witness|Disciples]] and allies. They are nimble entities that wield powerful orbs and [[Paracausality|Paracausal]] empowerment abilities.

==Overview==
Evocators are thin, spindly, vaguely humanoid constructs. They share similar appearance traits to [[Tormentor]]s and [[Subjugator]]s with long arms and black claws with four fingers. The major difference is that their fingers and toes are webbed. Their skin appears to be made of the same material as objects found in pyramid structures, and their arms are made from a similar glass-like material.  The face is featureless, save for two large eyes, and is obscured under a cloak similar to those worn by the [[Husk]]s and [[the Caretaker]].

Like other Dread, Evocators were created from [[Hive]] [[Wizard]]s by the Witness using the Traveler's Light. In one instance, Venme, a Wizard of [[Xivu Arath's Horde]], took part in a ritual to have her transformed into an Evocator, having her body and mind reshapped by the memory of a [[Forum:Quassin|species]] the Witness recalled from a [[Forum:Tivon|member]] preserved in its collective memory. Following the Witness's death within the [[Pale Heart]], the Evocators would be lost and be drawn to the wielders of the Echoes and any lingering leaders of the Black Fleet, including [[Fikrul, the Fanatic|Fikrul]], the [[The Resonant Knife, First of the Reshaped|Resonant Knife]], [[Kerrev, the Erased]], [[Forum:Xal Tinar|Xal Tinar]] and [[Forum:Stioceon|Stioceon]].

==Gameplay==
Much like [[Grim]], Evocators are capable of levitation and are nimble on the battlefield, seemingly swimming through the air. Its main method of attack is firing bolts of Arc energy from its prisms. If a Guardian gets too close to melee them, they can use their prism as a melee weapon. Occasionally, they will thrust their prism upward to create an Arc storm, sending bolts of Arc Energy that can partially track Guardians. They can also slam their prism on the ground to create a pulse capable of temporarily blinding any Guardians looking directly at them. However, their prism also acts as a precision spot that deals more damage to it compared to the rest of its body.

However, the most notable thing about Evocators is their support capabilities. They can empower their allies through Voltic Empowerment to boost their speed and attack. The effect is doubled for enemies with Arc Weapons and Abilities such as most [[Fallen]], [[Hive]] [[Thrall]] and [[Wizard]]s and [[Scorn]] [[Abomination]]s. This will be indicated to the player when they begin to draw energy from their prism into their other hand which they will crush, dispersing the energy to all enemies in the vicinity. This can be interrupted by either a powerful shot to an Evocator's prism or certain Guardian abilities that [[Void|suppress]], [[Stasis|freeze]] or [[Strand|suspend]].

Resonant memory lines the material of this armor. Imprinted within the folds of forged protection lies the flayed origin of the Dread.

Torches glow green with [[Soulfire]] in the depths of a cavern lined with sleek [[Pyramid]]al material. A gathering of [[Acolyte]]s carves a ritual circle into the dirt as Venme hovers above them in the circle's center.

The Wizard knows what is to come, the transformation into a new form. She knows she will be broken down while she is still alive and reformed as something new. She is not afraid, for to have one's form reshaped into one that better serves and fits the [[Final Shape|Final, Perfect Shape]] is something many like her saw as the truest expression of the [[Sword Logic]]. She had known some of her [[Hidden Swarm|Swarm]] who begged to be [[Taken]] by [[Oryx, the Taken King|Oryx]] and some who offered their minds to [[Xivu Arath, God of War|her own God's]] [[Cryptolith]]s. These "Dread" were no exception.

With the circle completed, the Acolytes kneel around it and start to chant, [[Shredder]]s laid flat in the bony palms. Venme raises her arms and spreads her claws, accepting the coming transformation.

"My Witness…" she whispers as the Soulfire in the circle and torches turn a Resonant orange.

Enveloped…

Her surroundings crumble away, leaving her suspended in a black void that reaches into infinity.

A collection of voices echoes around her. "By the First Knife, you shall be carved anew."

Venme flinches as many hands slowly pry her chitin open to make the initial cuts. Scalpals slicked sharp by the Sky slice into her being and mind.

"We free you from hunger and childish understandings. You will not need them."

In an instant, Venme is cleaved in half. A hand plunges into her being and tears her [[worm]] free. The squirming thing melts away in its grasp.

"In its place, we offer a piece of ourselves."

The Voice whispers a soul into the splayed remains. A flicker from a conquered people now wiped from memory, one that knew of a link to other minds before their integration.

The vivisected mind and body are melded by many hands like clay into their new shape. Memories from both are judged their worthiness of remaining. Only those that would help bring the Final Shape would remain, while the rest would be consigned to irrelevance.

Roots sew themselves through the gore to keep them together. Chitinous armor crumbles to dust as the newform crystallized.

"Two-made-one. Conduit of change, to bring an end to the cycle. Envoke our will."
