==Transcript==

    GHOST: The more we learn about the Vex, the more I understand why our Exo friend is so worried about them. During the Collapse, the Vex transformed the planet Mercury into a machine in days. They would have spread to every planet if The Traveler hadn't stopped them. We need to get into the Black Garden. We need a Gate Lord's head. 

{Gameplay}

    GHOST: First thing we're going to have to do is get me into the Vex network so I can lure out a Gate Lord. I'll lead the way. 

The Guardian heads in the direction of the Ember Caves.

    GHOST: Here's what we have on Gate Lords: "Three stories tall. Protect the realms the Vex keep locked out of time." Time? That can't be right. 

The Guardian enters The Citadel.

    GHOST: I'm picking up a heavy conflux nearby. I can use it to get into their network. 

The Guardian approaches the conflux and deploys the Ghost to scan it.

    GHOST: And I thought you had the hard job. Okay, we've got to head for a place called the Endless Steps. That's where we'll find the Gate Lord. 

The Guardian proceeds through Waking Ruins and approaches Campus 9.

    GHOST: To find the Gate Lord, I sort of had to mess with all their transfer gates here. You're probably going to have your hands full. 

The Guardian approaches a Gate.

    GHOST: The Gates are waking. They'll keep coming unless you can shut them down. 

If the Guardian does not destroy any Gates for a period of time:

    GHOST: You've got to destroy the Gates! They're still coming! Kill those Gates! 

The Guardian destroys a Gate.

    GHOST: That worked! Keep it up! 

The Guardian continues through the path and enters the Endless Steps.

    GHOST: And that is where we'll find the Gate Lord. Let's go. 

The Guardian clears out all of the Vex at the top of the steps.

    GHOST: I guess you're going to have to step inside the ring. 

The Guardian stands on the sync plate for a few seconds.

    GHOST: Here we go. 

Zydron, Gate Lord appears. The Guardian kills it.

    GHOST: Nice work! This better get us into the Black Garden. Let's go get our key from the Queen.

{Cutscene}

The Guardian returns to the Reef, Ghost in tow. The Queen sits at her throne, her Brother and personal guard around her.

    MARA SOV: It is alive. 

Uldren turns to see them.

    MARA SOV: And still has its ball. 

The Guardian approaches and stands in at the bottom of the throne's steps.

    ULDREN SOV: There is no shame in running away, Guardian. Apart from the cowardice and failure of it, it's an excellent strategy.
    GUARDIAN: We didn't run.
    MARA SOV: Was no Gate Lord slain, brother?
    GHOST: (proudly) Oh, we slayed a Gate Lord.
    GUARDIAN: Ghost. 

The Ghost warps in the head of Zydron, clattering to the floor with a loud crash. The Vandal Guards guard their Queen in suspicion, while the Queen and her Brother lean forward, surprised.

    GUARDIAN: We need to find The Black Garden.
    ULDREN: (chuckles condescendingly) They don't even know where it is.
    MARA SOV: Let us tell them. Search the Gate Lord for that which gains them entrance. 

Uldren angrily turns toward Mara Sov.

    ULDREN: Why? If you wish them certain death, just kill them here.
    MARA SOV: Often when we guess at others' motives, we reveal only our own.
    ULDREN: My motive is simply loyalty...to a people. 

He kneels at her side.

    ULDREN: A queen...and a sister.
    MARA SOV: Then please...take what is required. 

Uldren looks downward, then stands and walks toward the Gate Lord's head. Standing over it, he unsheathes his knife, and roughly thrusts it into the top of the mechanical mass. One of the Vandals adjusts his grip on his pike. Moments later, he pulls the eye from Zydron's head. The light in the eye quickly goes out, and the brother grins smugly.

    ULDREN: Dead...unfortunately. 

He turns and shows the Queen.

    ULDREN: A wasted journey, I'm afraid.
    MARA SOV: Perhaps...but I think these one's resourceful. We gift it...in sympathy for their Traveler. 

Uldren's eyes widen in surprise before he quickly composes himself. He then turns toward the Guardian.

    ULDREN: Mars. Eighty-four North, thirty-two East. Meridian Bay. 

He quickly tosses the dead eye towards the Guardian, who catches it. Mara Sov stands from her throne.

    MARA SOV: I have shown you benevolence, Guardian. Should the Awoken ever need an ally, I will call on you and expect you to answer. 

Uldren sheathes his knife, and the Vandal Guards finally stand at rest on either side of the Queen.

    ULDREN: She's saying you owe us, Guardian.
    GUARDIAN: I understand...(bows slightly) Your Grace. 

The Guardian and Ghost turn and walk toward the exit.

    ULDREN: Good luck! (mutters) ...getting through the Exclusion Zone. 

Fades to black.
